Grand Theft Auto VI is still unreleased, so we are careful to separate confirmed facts from the estimates and leaks floating around elsewhere.
The confirmed facts
- Release date: 19 November 2026. Confirmed
- Platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Confirmed
- Not on PS4 and not on Xbox One. Confirmed
- Pre-orders opened 25 June 2026, announced by Take-Two on 24 June 2026 (Take-Two). Confirmed
- Price (US): $79.99 standard, $99.99 Ultimate Edition. Confirmed
- Digital pre-load from 12 November 2026; the boxed edition (a download code, not a disc) also goes on sale that day. Confirmed
- Key dates already behind us: An Extended Look premiered on 27 August 2026 (Rockstar Newswire), and the launch trailer, captured in-game on PS5, followed on 15 October 2026. Confirmed
- Setting: the state of Leonida and Vice City (a modern Florida and Miami), with protagonists Lucia and Jason, as shown in Rockstar's official trailers. Confirmed
That is the whole confirmed picture for date and platforms. Anything beyond it, install size, resolution and frame-rate targets, and any PC date, is not confirmed. Last checked 25 October 2026.
GTA 6 on PS4 / Xbox One: NO. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, from 19 November 2026.
Confirmed platforms only
Two consoles get GTA 6 at launch, and only two:
- PlayStation 5 (all current PS5 models; the store listing marks the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced, without details yet).
- Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
Last-gen hardware is explicitly out. There is no PS4 version and no Xbox One version, and Rockstar has not announced one. For the reasons behind that line, see why GTA 6 is not on PS4, and for the Xbox side, GTA 6 on Xbox One.
What about a PC release?
This is the most common follow-up question, so let us be precise. Rockstar has not announced a PC release date for GTA 6. A later PC version is widely expected, based on how previous Rockstar titles have rolled out, but "widely expected" is not "confirmed." Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in September 2026 that PC is "becoming more and more important" to the company, without naming GTA 6, and Xbox's Matthew Ball said on 7 October 2026 that the game will not stream to PC at launch. Until Rockstar states it, treat any specific GTA 6 PC date as unverified. Leak / rumour
Why the date matters for PS4 owners
If you are on a PS4, 19 November 2026 is your planning deadline. To play GTA 6 on day one you need a PS5 in hand, set up and ideally pre-loaded. That is very doable with a little planning:
- Pick your PS5: cheapest PS5 for GTA 6.
- Offset the cost: trade in your PS4.
- Lock in the game: pre-order on PS5 (open since 25 June 2026) and pre-load from 12 November.
