What has actually been said (as of 25 October 2026)
- Take-Two: on the earnings call of 7 August 2026, CEO Strauss Zelnick said the GTA Online update cadence "has been pretty stable" and that "we expect to continue to support GTA Online going forward" (PCGamesN, GamingBolt). That is a statement about GTA Online in general, not a promise about the PS4 version specifically. Confirmed
- Rockstar: no end-of-service date for GTA Online on PS4 has been announced. Confirmed The only PS4-specific cut so far was the removal of the Rockstar Editor from PS4 and Xbox One in February 2024, which Rockstar said was meant to keep those versions stable and up to date "for as long as possible" (Game Developer).
- Precedent: Rockstar ended GTA Online on PS3 and Xbox 360 on 16 December 2021, about a year after the PS5 launched. Many players expect something similar for PS4 one day, but that is an inference, not an announcement. Speculation

What does not change: GTA 6 still will not run on PS4
This is the line to keep straight. Being able to keep playing GTA 5 on PS4 is not the same as GTA 6 coming to PS4. It is not. GTA 6 is PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and there is no PS4 version, no backwards-compatibility route and no reliable workaround.
